Civil War Patriotic Covers - 4

Flag and Female - Unused
When you do get bi-color or multi-colored confederate covers
they often tend to be the cruder designs such as this. Note the
configuration of the stars on the flag on this cover!

Auction: $280

10 Star Flag - 4 Oct ?
Another example of the crude design. The supply of paper
in the south was a real problem, often you will find
Confederate covers on cheaper paper than Union covers, which
did not aid the printing of the image.

Auction: $280

Dragoon and Verse - Unused
Towards the end of the war, the supply of paper was becoming critical. Folks
were resorting to using their wallpaper to fashion envelopes and using stamps
for money (their being little paper to print small demonition money). Here
we see not only rough paper but the quality of printing has taken a dive.
Elaborate used Confederacy covers from the late period of the war are
indeed, a rarity.
