Advertising Covers 1870's

By now the background covers are losing some of the popularity
Here we see a variation, where the printer used the color pink.

Duing the civil war bi-color patriotic covers became common. Soon
afterwards we see the first bi-color advertising covers.
The most common illustrated ad cover was the black engraved print.

As the decade progresses we see more and more product adverts.
Once the domain of the wealthier companies, such as railroads, the
smaller company is now able to afford these.

As we enter the 1880's we see the more elaborate use of multicolored colors,
which by the turn of century is almost the norm.
