DO NOT BUY FROM - I RECEIVE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS FIRM Auctions are on line and public at their auction house. Frequent auctions, almost one a month. Heavy emphasis on US lots. I receive more complaints about this auction house than any other. Mostly related to not getting a refund, mis-identified stamps and lack of communication. Personaly I would never buy from them. Nov 2011 Update: The complaints get worse and more frequent. Apfelbaum has created a lot of unhappy philatelists. |

Auctions are on line, World and US, mostly will be at local shows such as BALPEX and VAPEX in the Washington DC area. Bidding available on-line and at the public auction. US classics, quite a few have faults (all mentioned), photos are of poor quality. Possible to pick up a small bargain, but bear in mind heavy viewing at the shows so chances are limited. |

Shreves was a world class US stamp auction house until it was taken over by Shreves. Now it is even better. Spinks has a peerless reputation, customer service is second to none. They also have superior knowledge of their craft and a reputation that goes back centuries (founded 1666 in London). Infrequent auctions, bidding available on-line and at the public auction. Not only does Spinks have the best of the best, but you are more likely to find the unusual here than some of the other top auction houses. Expensive items, but like Mecca, you have to go there at least once in your lifetime. |

Harmers is both US and world, their auctions are on-line. They are on the same tier as Robert Siegal but not as extensive in their selection or the frequency of their auctions. Good reputation. Upper end US classics. Bidding available on-line and at the public auction. |

Cherrystone is both world and US, however their US auctions are frequent. Very similar to Harmers in scope and quality, which is good. Of good reputation. Upper end US classics. Bidding available on-line and at the public auction. |

Of all the large auction house Seigal's has the most frequent auctions. They go the extra mile in everything, including several searchable databases that assist you in your buying decision. A first class operation that this writer has had many satisfactory transactions with. Upper end US classics. Bidding available on-line and at the public auction. |

About six or seven auctions a year, always at large stamp shows such as SESCAL and ChicagoPex. Their lot list is long and yummy. Despite that the lot is held at shows, the list is so large that bargains can be had. I have had not heard any adverse comments about Regency. US classics, better quality. Bidding available on-line and at the public auction. |

One auction a month. Not that much US, however checking the previous sales this auction seems to be a big secret, almost everything was a bargain. Not only singles but nice groupings and good quality to boot. US classics, better quality. Bidding available on-line only |

Twice yearly auction, about 40% Canada and 40% US, with the rest being the rest of the world. Large selection with interesting items. As it is one of the lesser known auctions expect good hunting opportunities. US classics, better quality. Bidding available on-line and at public auction only |
