Very little is known about this printer. Danforth, Bald & Co. formed in 1850 from Danforth & Hufty; part became Danforth Wright & Co. in 1853; part became Bald, Cousland & Co. in 1853. They were known for their artistic and beautiful vignettes that graced the banknotes at the time. Some of which are shown here.
The printer was one of seven printers that merged to become the American Bank Note Company.
George Baldwin (1803-1872) began as a New york merchant 1830-1846, and a plate printer in 1847. He was with Durand, Baldwin & Co. 1848-1850; Baldwin, Adams & co. 1851-1854; Baldwin, Bald & Cousland 1855-1858; and worked independently 1858-1872.
