Very little is know about this firm. John Draper owned Draper, Underwood, Bald, Spencer & Hufty, the Bald, of Bald and Cousland notoriety. In 1837 he left this firm to join Toppan and James Longacre, Toppan of Toppan, Carpenter and Casilear fame. In 1841 he left to become Draper Welsh & Co. He was also chief engraver for the United states mint from this point on.
