The Incorrect Seal

Image

As the story goes, the Post Office asked the Library of Concert for the copy of the Michigan State Seal for the purpose of designing a stamp. The Library supplied them with the incorrect copy, a historical seal that had included a tent in the central shield. Despite this the state was happy with the stamp, stating that it gets cold in Michigan and the soldier might appreciate the addition of the tent.
